1. Pick a Key
Pick one of the 7 letter names. That will be the base note. You can alterate it by adding a sharp or a flat sign.
2. Choose a Mode
There are two modes in Western music: major and minor. Each has scales associated with it. i
3. Select a Chord
Several predefined chord types are available. The triad is the fundamental chord: two stacked thirds, creating a fifth between the lowest and highest notes. i
4. Explore the Circle
Now you can hover the notes on the circle to hear and see the musical relationships. When playing two or more notes, interval lines will appear. They may be labeled as "P5" for a perfect fifth, "M3" for a major third, etc. i
5. Use the Keyboard
You can use either the piano below the circle, your computer keyboard, or a MIDI keyboard. The computer keys are mapped according to the diagram below. You can use the arrow buttons to shift the keys.
6. Add Chords to the Circle
You can add any chord to the circle by clicking the "Add to Circle" button. It will create a small button floating around its home note. You can move it to a different note to change its home.
